LEWISTON — Eighteen marketing, IT and hospitality and tourism students from Lewiston Regional Technical Center received first-place awards at the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference in March.

Twenty-five students participated, some receiving more than one award. 

Six students received second-place awards, and five received third-place awards, in a series of objective tests, case studies and presentations.

First-place winners have the opportunity to attend the FBLA National Leadership Conference at the end of June in Anaheim, California, to compete against 12,000 other students across the nation.

Results are as follows:

First place: Mervike Baraka, Public Speaking II; Ethan Roy, Computer Problem-Solving; Jeff Bellmore, Cyber Security; Alexis Elsman, Electronic Career Portfolio; Susan Johnson/Victoria Mathieu/Alexis Elsman, Emerging Business Issues; Zoe Tedeman, Hospitality Management; Paige Pelletier, Job Interview; Matt Hird/Katie Luu/Steven Martin, Management Decision-Making; Jeff Bellmore/Collin Clark/Daniel Moreau, Network Design; Ethan Roy, Networking Concepts; Courtney Trembley/Zoe Tedeman, Public Service Announcement.

Second place: Halima Aden, Sales Presentation; Halima Aden, Business Plan; Bailey Bryant, Computer Problem-Solving; Collin Clark, Networking Concepts; Dylan Bulmer/Alex Alden, Website Design.

Third place: Matt Hird, Future Business Leader; Ryan Handlon, Help Desk; Joel Matondo/Muslima Abdullahi/Matt Hird, Marketing.
