An Auburn police officer begins his investigation Friday night following a crash near the Firehouse Grille on Broad Street. The band Zeallous Bellus was on stage at about 10 p.m. when a pickup truck slammed into the side of a nearby hair salon, hitting an area not far from where Justin Dube was playing the drums. “Everyone is OK,” said guitarist Chuck Smith. “A close call to where Justin was drumming.” Police said the 17-year-old driver of the truck had been heading north on Riverside Drive when he failed to stop at a light at the intersection of Broad Street and then made a left turn at a high rate of speed. He struck a utility pole as well as the side of the All About You hair salon next to the club. Neither the driver nor his younger brother, a passenger in the truck, were injured. The crash remained under investigation.
