LEWISTON — Candide Anne Williams, 75, of Auburn, went home to the Lord after a long illness Thursday, May 4, at Central Maine Medical Center. She was born in Auburn on Oct. 7, 1941, the daughter of the late Arthur and Yolande (Marquis) Rousseau. She was educated at St. Louis School and graduated from Edward Little High School with the Class of 1960.

Candide married her true love, Dale Williams, on Nov. 5, 1960, at St. Louis Church in Auburn. They spent 51 years together until he passed Nov. 17, 2011. She worked for nearly 30 years at Arby’s, retiring as a shift leader. She was a very devout Catholic and member of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed making jewelry, playing games on her computer, knitting and playing Scrabble with her grandson Wesley. She especially loved going to the Oxford Casino with her daughter, Debbie.

She leaves behind her daughter, Deborah Haire, and her devoted son-in-law, Wes, of Auburn, her three sons, Michael Williams of N.H., Timothy Williams and his wife, Cheryl, of N.H., and Steven Williams of Nevada; her two sisters, Collette Mahmod of California, and Christine Poulin of Auburn, her five grandchildren, Thomas, Dale, Koren, John and Wesley, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister, Simone Lachapelle, and three brothers, Normand, Gerard and Roland Rousseau.

A special thank-you to Dr. Duval, Kelly and Shirley; Dr. Bender, Michelle and Kim from Dr. Brett’s office; Dr. Eisenhauer; Dr. Ritvo and Dr. Thorp, all of whom provided her with excellent care and made the last few years of Mom’s life as good as it could have been. Also, a special thank-you to the CMMC doctors, nurses and medical staff for their excellent care.
