NORWAY — Public hearings on proposals for a medical marijuana growing operation at 12 King St. and a private health club and fitness training center on Aldrich Avenue are set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Town Office.
The Planning Board voted unanimously April 27 to approve a site-plan review application for Matt New of Auburn to lease the former meat-processing plant at 12 King St. The plan includes subleasing the basement and first and second floors to licensed medical marijuana caregivers. They are generally defined as individuals or distributors who can possess, cultivate and provide medical cannabis to qualified medical marijuana patients.
New reiterated several times that medical marijuana “will not be dispensed from the building.”
Residents will also have a chance to comment on Oxford resident Jesse Wall’s proposal to construct a private health club and fitness center on Aldrich Avenue.
Wall wants to build a 40- by 140-foot steel warehouse-style building and a smaller, pre-engineered steel building.
He has owned and operated TruStrength Athletics on Route 26 in Oxford since 2008 but, he told the Planning Board, he would like to move his business to Norway.
