WEST PARIS — Janice Young Cross, 92, passed away Tuesday, May 9, at Ledgeview Living Center where she had resided for six years.

She was born Dec. 13, 1924, a daughter of William and Lillian Young. She attended Bethel schools. She married Stuart A. Cross on March 12, 1942, and together they had two sons. They were married 62 years. Together, with Stuart’s brothers and their wives, they built Mt. Abram Skiway. Janice worked there for many years. Many years ago, Stuart and Jan enjoyed a trip to Alaska to visit family and friends. They also enjoyed 18 years spending winters in Florida at their winter home. She loved her trips to the ocean at Brunswick. Janice enjoyed many hobbies: hunting, she taught Jack how to hunt and helped him with his first deer; fishing, and she usually “out fished” her husband; she loved reading, cooking, (exotic meals including deer, moose, eel, bear, woodchuck, and roadkill that Stuart might pick up); gardening, knitting, playing cards with friends, and her grandchildren; going to yard sales and attending bingo with Honey.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and son, Studie; brothers, Lawrence (Bozo) and Harold (Tater); sisters, Edna Cole, Eleanor Buker and Florence (Honey) Bailey.

Survivors include one brother, Grover (Pete) and wife, Judy; son, Jack and wife, Susan (Sue); grandchildren, Daniel Cross of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughter, Nicole Cross and fiancé, Bobby Ridell, of Boynton Beach, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.
