AUBURN — John F. Murphy Homes Inc. is celebrating 40 years in the community, supporting children and adults with intellectual disabilities, autism and related disabilities.
The organization, which began with one home for six adults, has grown to over 50 homes, and includes day programs, work supports, seven special-purpose schools for children with autism and related disabilities, a recreation program, Whiting Farm and authorization as a shared living oversight agency. The agency is also looking to provide case management.
As its mission has grown over 40 years, the organization has not only boosted the local economy by purchasing goods and services in the area, but supported over 300 children and adults with disabilities residentially, educationally, vocationally and recreationally while employing over 800.
The organization is located at John F. Murphy Homes Inc., 800 Center St. For more information, call 207-782-2726 or go to www.jfmhomes.org.
