When I read that Lewiston, Maine, was a great place to retire, I had to laugh. Hey, Forbes — have you seen it? Maybe 40 years ago, when Lewiston still had stores downtown, shopping centers, car dealerships and enough jobs to go around.

If you can afford over-priced restaurants or need a lawyer, then downtown Lewiston is for you.

Take the love of your life for a midnight stroll in Kennedy Park. Walk the river walk behind Sunnyside Park. Walk the beautiful neighborhoods of Walnut, Pierce, Pine and Ash streets.

The people at Forbes need to experience that to see the real picture.
