AUBURN — Police announced Thursday afternoon they had arrested a Pennsylvania man and charged him with a felony count of aggravated sex trafficking.
According to a statement issued by Auburn police, Dean Pascal, 65, of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, was operating a prostitution operation from a local hotel. Police declined to release the name of the hotel.
Detectives found the alleged operation via backpage.com, a website used to promote adult services and escorts. The statement said detectives interviewed the sex trafficking adult victim after making contact with her at the hotel.
Pascal was a contract employee who recently began working in the area. He was arrested at his place of employment, which police declined to name. The victim had been brought to Maine from Pennsylvania, according to police.
Pascal was being held on $25,000 cash bail at the Androscoggin County Jail.
