LEWISTON — Elaine Currie, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Monday, May 15, at Montello Manor.

She was born May 11, 1934, to parents Charles and Helen Bennett in Auburn, where she lived most of her life. She lived in West Auburn for a good part of her adult life.

Elaine married Robert Currie on Sept. 18, 1955, and had three children, Pam, Linda and Scott.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, working outdoors and going to the ocean.

Elaine worked at Taber’s Lakeside Stand for many years, and also at Lost Valley and King’s Department Store.

Surviving are her three children, Pamela Anthony and husband, Mark, of Mechanic Falls, Linda Austin of Greene, and Scott Currie of Lewiston; three brothers, Tom, Don and her twin brother, Eugene Bennett; three grandchildren, Emily Allen and fiancé Norm Lizotte, Stacy Joslyn and husband, Garrett, and Jeremy Austin and fianceé Crystal Murphy; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband April 10, 2007; both parents; and also by an infant daughter.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Montello Manor for the excellent care that they provided for Elaine.
