GREENE — The powerful baritone vocalist Larry Gowell will be performing at the Araxine Sawyer Memorial Friday, June 2 at 2 and 7 p.m.

Gowell is known for his emotional expression of songs from the American Songbook. Some of his biggest credits over his more than eight-year professional career include a performance at the Metropolitan Club in New York City, singing the national anthem at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox and appearing in  all the largest venues in Central Maine.

In total, Gowell has performed more than  640 concerts, including many of these at nursing homes and independent living facilities all over the state. His outgoing personality and passion for music makes up a big part his over all appeal in all his concerts. The singers that have most inspired him over his lifetime are, Frank Sinatra, Nate King Cole, Dean Martin,  Elvis and Josh Groban, to name a few.  

He will be performing some of the biggest hits of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nate King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr.  Many of the songs are the biggest swing songs from that era produced by Count Basie, Nelson Riddle background music, to back up his powerful baritone voice,  along with some ballads.
