One of the busiest men in Auburn is William Leighton of Danville Junction, who is pushing the work in the new pergola at Oak Hill Cemetery. This massive adornment in the upper grounds, however, says Mr. Leighton, was begun too late to be completed by Memorial Day. The pergola consists of two circular concrete and smooth round rocks to be coated with quartz crystals. The outer wall is nine feet in circumference and is about two feet tall. The inner wall is five feet tall and will contain a fountain in the center, surrounded by plants. The space between the inner and outer walls will be filled with plants.

Members of the Lewiston High School band arrived back home late Monday afternoon, completing a successful appearance at Expo 67 at Montreal. The band was heard in two concerts Sunday at Bandstand B, which is located near the Australian exhibit. From all reports, the concerts were well received by good sized crowds despite a strong wind which prevailed at both the morning and afternoon events.

Three brothers who enlisted in the armed services together in 1950 will be marching in the Memorial Day parade at Buckfield Monday morning as officers of the local American Legion post. Shirley C. Jones, 60, of Buckfield, Merton B. Jones, 62, of Hartford, and William P. Jones, 63, of Turner, all decided to serve their country during the Korean Conflict and traveled to Portland in August 1950 to be inducted. Shirley and Merton enlisted in the U.S. Army, while William re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after serving three years. The younger brothers attended boot camp at Fort Bragg, N.C., but after that never saw each other until being discharged in 1953.
