SOUTH PARIS — Lewiston scored five times in the top of the fourth inning and pulled away for a 11-8 triumph in Class A softball action Tuesday afternoon.

Oxford Hills wasted no time putting runs on the board, scoring four in the bottom of the first off four hits, chasing Lewiston starter Danielle Cyr. Megan Theriault came in in relief for Cyr and earned the victory.

Trailing 4-1, Lewiston batters chipped away, scoring five runs in the fourth and pounding out 14 hits, including a single by Lexi Poulin that scored a run, and then Poulin came around to score after multiple Oxford Hills errors.

Poulin finished with four hits and a pair of runs batted in. Jordyn Rubin also had four singles in the win.

Anna Piirainen and Kenzie Kahkonen each had doubles in the loss. Cora Hooker and Erin Morton added three singles apiece for the Vikings (7-5).Maxim

Leavitt 12, Lincoln Academy 7

NEWCASTLE  — Leavitt plated four runs in the top of the first and never trailed in its 12-7 victory in Class B softball Tuesday.

Bri Noniewicz paced the Hornets (9-4) with a pair of doubles and four RBIs. Annika Mitchell contributed two singles and two RBIs. Abby Robertson earned the victory on the mound, allowing seven hits while striking out seven.
Julia Poland ripped two doubles and drove in a pair of runs for Lincoln Academy (2-11) in the loss.

Carrabec 16, Mtn. Valley 6

NORTH ANSON — Bailey Dunphy belted two doubles and a home run as Carrabec slugged its way to a 16-6 win over Mountain Valley in MVC softball action Tuesday.

McKenzie Edes and Sam LeBeau added two hits apiece for the Cobras (9-5).

Grace Briggs, Emily Laubauskas and Kassie Thibodeau had two hits each for the Falcons (4-7). Briggs had a triple and Laubauskas a double.

Baseball

Oxford Hills 8, Lewiston 3

PARIS — Troy Johnson had two hits, drove in two runs and picked up the win on the mound as Oxford Hills defeated Lewiston, 8-3, in KVAC baseball action Tuesday.

The Vikings (10-2) answered two Blue Devil runs in the top of the first with three in the bottom of the frame, then scored two more in their half of the second after Lewiston tied it.

Hunter Landry led Lewiston (8-6) with three hits, including a double.

Rangeley 17, Highview Christian 3

BINGHAM — Sophomore Cal Crosby struck out eight batters and received plenty of run support in Rangeley’s 17-3 win over Highview Christian in Class D South baseball action Tuesday.

Kyle LaRochelle and Bo Beaulieau each had a double and two hits for the Lakers (7-3).

Desmond Murray led Highview Christian (0-6) with two hits.

St. Dom’s 5, Old Orchard Beach 4

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Riley Volpe scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, giving St. Dom’s a 5-4 baseball win over Old Orchard Beach on Tuesday.

The Saints scored four runs in the first inning, but the Seagulls chipped away at the 4-0 lead with two runs in the third and one apiece in the fourth and fifth, trying the game at 4-4.

Volpe led of the Saint’s half of the sixth inning with a double, then scored the winning run.

Richmond 8, Buckfield 7

BUCKFIELD — Buckfield hung with Class D South-leading Richmond before falling 8-7 in Tuesday’s baseball game.

Freshman Tyler Gammon picked all seven innings for the Bucks (7-7), who led 7-6 before the Bobcats plated two runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Jake Kraske and Zack Grove each had two hits for Buckfield.

Zach Small led Richmond (12-1) with three hits.

Bridgeway 10, Mountain Valley 0

MADISON — Four Bridgeway pitchers shut down Mountain Valley in a 10-0 baseball win Tuesday.

The Bandits held the Falcons to one hit.

The game was scoreless until Bridgeway scored four runs in the fourth inning, followed by five in the fifth and one in the sixth.
