FARMINGTON — Regional School Unit 9 directors voted unanimously Tuesday night to appoint Melissa Williams as director of the Foster Career and Technical Education Center.

Williams, of Industry, is interim director of the center at the Mt. Blue Campus. She has worked for the district for 10 years as the center’s student services coordinator and nearly one year as interim director.

The school board’s Contract Resolution Committee set her salary at $82,000, Superintendent Tom Ward said Wednesday.

Williams replaced Glenn Kapiloff as interim director in August 2016 when he became the director of the adult education program as part of an administration restructuring at Mt. Blue Campus.

The center director’s position was advertised internally, Ward said Wednesday. Williams was the only one to apply.

She was interviewed by the board’s Administrative Evaluation Committee which recommended Williams for the position.
