PARIS — A Waterford man pleaded not guilty Thursday morning in Oxford County Superior Court to felony aggravated assault and assaulting an officer.
Justin Stanton, 33, was arrested Feb. 5 on a charge of assaulting a woman for the second time in two months, assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and violating bail conditions.
The court ruled that Stanton’s $10,000 bail set in February should remain in effect.
Oxford County Deputy Joshua Daley wrote in an affidavit that on Sunday, Feb. 5, he and Deputy Stephan Witham responded to a report of an assault in Waterford. They found a woman with dried blood on her lip and several bruises and abrasions on her face, and Stanton asleep on the floor. She said he assaulted her for about two hours and she pretended to be unconscious to make him stop.
Daley said that when he and Witham took Stanton into custody, he resisted and spit on them.
Stanton was arrested in November 2016 for head-butting and choking the same woman, police said.
