Charlotte Waterman jumps into sister Sadie Waterman’s arms after Oak Hill defeated unbeaten Madison on Tuesday.

WALES — Oak Hill plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to trip up previously unbeaten Madison, 5-4, in girls’ softball action Tuesday afternoon.

Madison (15-1) took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning, setting up the late-game heroics for Oak Hill. With one out, Abby Nadeau reached on an error and Julia Ahlberg hit a line-drive single to left field before another misplayed ball in the infield loaded the bases.

Hannah Nadeau ripped her third single up the middle to tie the game 4-4. Madison pitcher Madelyn Wood registered her ninth strikeout of the game for the second out of the inning. Sadie Waterman worked a 2-2 count before hitting a single up the middle scoring Ahlberg with the winning run.

Waterman scattered seven hits while striking out seven for the Raiders (13-3). Wood collected three hits including a triple while Aisha Malloy also added three hits for the Bulldogs.

Morse 3, Leavitt 1

BATH — Catcher Becky Faulkingham smacked a two-run home run in the first inning for the Shipbuilders as Morse notched a 3-1 victory over Leavitt in softball action Tuesday afternoon.

Cassidy Bunker had two singles and an RBI for the Hornets (9-6).

Pitcher Beth Kalis struck out six, walked two and allowed just four hits and a run to earn the win on the mound for the Shipbuilders (10-5).

Buckfield 19, Valley 6

BINGHAM — Catcher Hannah Shields had two triples, a double and a single with four RBIs to power Buckfield to a 19-6 victory over Valley in softball action Tuesday afternoon.

The Bucks (14-2) had three big innings, scoring six in the final frame to take a comfortable win. Junior third baseman Carly Trimm contributed a home run and two singles and three RBIs for Buckfield.

Left fielder Jada Ward posted a triple and a single as the Cavaliers (3-9) managed to post six runs, including a five-run rally in the second inning.

Mountain Valley 10, Dirigo 2

DIXFIELD — Emily Laubauskas hurled seven innings of two-hit softball on Tuesday as Mountain Valley cruised to a 10-2 late-season rout over Dirigo.

Jordan Duguay led the Falcons (6-9) with three hits and three RBIs, while Grace Briggs belted an RBI double.

Madeline DeGroot led the Cougars (3-13) with an RBI double in the sixth inning.

Spruce Mountain 11, Lincoln Academy 9 (8 Inn.)

LINCOLN — Calley Baker belted an RBI-triple in the eighth inning to lift Spruce Mountain to an 11-9 victory over Lincoln Academy in late-season softball action Tuesday.

Alex Bessey led the Phoenix (3-12) with three hits, while Grace Harmatys, Hailey Perkins, Julianne Doiron and Ashley Castonguay all belted two hits each.

Lexi Hartford led the way for Lincoln (2-13) with an RBI double, while Kortney Mckenna suffered the loss.

Monmouth 17, Lisbon 2

LISBON — Emily Chasse scattered four hits and drew more than ample run support as Monmouth overpowered Lisbon, 17-2 in a lopsided late-season softball tilt.

Tia Day led the Mustangs (12-4) with three hits and three RBIs, while Abby Ferland belted out two hits and drove in three runs. Julia Johnson also contributed with two hits and two RBIs.

The Greyhounds (10-6) utilized Aylssa Hall and Mallory Fairbanks in the circle, with Hall getting tagged with the loss.

Baseball

Dirigo 4, Mountain Valley 2

DIXFIELD — Cam Turner and Bryce Whittemore led a four-run second inning for Dirigo as they hustled to a 4-2 victory over Mountain Valley on Tuesday.

Turner reached base for the Cougars (9-7) on a double, while Whittemore sent him across the plate with an RBI single.

The Falcons (10-5) were led by Garrett Garbarini with two hits and one RBI.

Spruce Mountain 6, Lincoln Academy 3

LINCOLN — Nate Goodine scattered six hits and drew ample run support as Spruce Mountain rolled to a 6-3 late-seasob baseball win over Lincoln Academy Tuesday.

Goodine helped his cause with two hits and two RBIs, while Landon Brochu and catcher Poisson also pounded out two hits each. Hunter Dalton also contributed witgh a two-run single in the fourth inning.

Chris Sullivan suffered the loss for Lincoln (2-13) after working the first six innings.

Lisbon 19, Boothbay 3

LISBON — Ryley Austin scattered four hits in five innings and received more than adequate run support as Lisbon overpowered Boothbay 19-3 in more late-season baseball action Tuesday.

Nick Lerette and Nate Havlicec led the Greyhounds with five RBIs each, while Devin Libby pounded out three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Tyler Halls also contributed with two hits and two runs scored in a well-balanced attack.

Bob Blackman, Ethan Betts, Cam Crocker and John Giles all belted out singles for Boothbay.

Rangeley sweeps Vinalhaven

CAMDEN — Rangeley dominated 12 innings on Tuesday, coming away with 11-0 and 6-2 wins over Vinalhaven in a late-season baseball doubleheader.

In Game 1, Ricky Thompson pitched five innings of one-hit ball and drew all kinds of run support as the Lakers (8-3) prevailed with ease. Rangeley put nine runs on the board in the fifth on three singles, four errors and three walks.

Eliza Ames went the distance for Vinalhaven (2-10) and suffered the loss.

In the nightcap, Kyle Larochelle scattered five hits in seven innings for the Lakers (9-3). Ian Lillis led the effort with two hits, while Larochelle and Leo Perez each belted doubles.

Cody Hamilton and Joe Hopkins led the way for Vinylhaven (2-11) with two hits apiece.

Buckfield 17, Valley 3

BINGHAM — Ethan Jackson hurled four innings of four-hit ball on Tuesday as Buckfield overwhelmed Valley, 17-3, in more late-season baseball action.

Jackson led the Bucks (8-8) with three hits and three RBIs, while Jake Kraske belted out two hits and drove in two runs. Simon Burch and Zack Grover also contributed with four hits and five RBIs to their credit.

The Cavaliers (1-10) were led by Brandon Thomas with an RBI double, while Nathan Ames suffered the loss.

Boys’ lacrosse

Edward Little 19, MCI/Nokomis 2

NEWPORT — Spencer Frahn led an offensive onslaught with five goals and Tyler Morin added three goals and four assists to lead Edward Little to a 19-2 win over MCI/Nokomis in a season-ending boys’ lacrosse contest on Tuesday.

Ganan Mancini added three goals, as well, for the Eddies (7-5), while Alex Landry and Leighton Girardin added two apiece.

Dakota Bosquet turned aside 16 MCI/Nokomis shots to earn the victory in the cage.

Nick Bolliger and Bryce Agnair scored once each for the home team in the loss.

Girls’ lacrosse

Edward Little 10, Brunswick 9

AUBURN — Junior midfielder Piper Norcross scored a game-high four goals as Edward Little edged Brunswick 10-9 in girls’ lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon.

The Red Eddies (6-6) took a 6-4 lead at the half. Haley Frohlich and Megan Steele contributed three goals each.

Goalie Mariah Vallaincourt, who had 13 saves, made a huge one with three seconds remaining and ran it up the field. The ball was checked away and piloted towards the cage, but failed to cross the plane before time ran out.

Jenna Brooks and Anna Davis collected three goals apiece for the Dragons (4-7) in the losing effort.
