TURNER — The annual Leavitt Father’s Day 5k is taking place on Saturday, June 17 at 9 a.m. It will start on the fields between the football field and track at Leavitt Area High School, 21 Matthews Way, Turner. This race is a central Maine woods trail and field 5k to help raise funds for the Leavitt cross country team. A number of parent-child teams run the trail, and special prize drawings for parent-child teams are offered during the awards. Our youngest running/walking the 5k last year was four! There is also a fabulous kids’ fun run for the youngest crowd at 10:15 a.m.
This race is being sponsored in 2017 by: Hillandale Farms, Kaplan University, Center Street Dental, Bangor Savings Bank, Udderly Delicious/Bussiere Goat Milk Dairy, Bert Labbe the Builder, Clark Metal Fabrication (5k medals), and Road ID (bib numbers).
The fees are $15 if pre-registered/$20 on race day/free for 10 and under if pre-registered/$5 on race day for 10 and under. $50 to first male and female to finish; medals for age group first and second place finishers; special raffle prizes for parent/child combinations; performance tees to first 100 registrants. Divisions are 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
