AUBURN — Police were at a Mill Street apartment house early Thursday night after a pair of people were found unresponsive on the second floor.

The situation was being investigated as a possible double overdose.

One neighbor said one of the victims was face down on the floor when the situation was discovered at about 7 p.m. The second victim was sprawled on a sofa, the neighbor said.

He reported that one of the victims appeared to have turned a bluish color.

One victim was carried out of the apartment on a gurney shortly after police, fire and rescue crews arrived at 108-110 Mill St. A short time later, it was reported that the victim had been revived en route to a Lewiston hospital.

It was not immediately clear if the victims were men, women or one of each. The situation was initially reported as a double fatality.

By 8 p.m., the second victim had not been removed from the home. Police were speaking to neighbors and searching for evidence inside the apartment as their investigation got underway.

A neighbor said the pair was discovered after a visitor ran from the second floor apartment, asking for help. A first floor tenant dialed 911, summonsing several police officers as well as rescue and fire crews.

Mill Street was clogged with police cruisers and fire trucks as emergency crews first responded.

Police confirmed that they had been called to the area for a report of two people unresponsive on the second floor. They said there was no immediate danger to others who live in the area.

The building is a 3-story apartment house near the intersection of Main and Mill streets.
