Foot Hills Land Conservancy meeting

WILTON — Foothills Land Conservancy will hold its annual meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Academy Hill School Cafeteria.

The first part of the meeting will the annual business meeting. Election of officers and board members will take place. The second part of the meeting will be a presentation titled “Dragonflies, Butterflies, and Bumble Bees of Western Maine” by University of Maine at Farmington biology professor, Ron Butler.

Butler has studied these important insect groups for many years and at many sites around the state, including the Foothills Preserve. The presentation will focus on background biology of each group, some results from three, statewide, citizen-science initiatives studying these insects, and specifically what has been learned about these important insect groups at the Foothills Land Conservation Area.

Scientist to speak White Mountain plants

BETHEL — Mahoosuc Land Trust will host Appalachian Mountain Club staff scientist Georgia Murray. The talk will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at the McLaughlin Auditorium on the Gould Academy campus.

Murray will discuss tree leafing and flower bloom times in the White Mountains, reflecting long-term climate trends. 

Paris Farmers Union talk at Society

PARIS — The Paris Cape Historical Society will feature a program on the Paris Farmers Union, delivered by Diane Sherwood, at 7 p.m. Monday, June 15, at 77 High St.

Everyone interested in Paris history, especially in its farming history, are welcome to come to this meeting. The meeting will be followed by refreshments and fellowship.

A featured speaker is presented each third Thursday of the month from May through October, with a Christmas party held at the home of one of the members in December. The museum is open every Thursday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m.

Storytellers Guild to meet

FARMINGTON — The Western Order of Dedicated Storytellers Guild will meet on the third Thursday of the month through Dec. 21 at the Farmington Public Library, 117 Academy St. 

The next meeting will be held June 15, and it is free to attend.
