Bill Hiss of Minot and his daughter, Jessy Quint, set off on their maiden voyage in a 1915 Old Town AA Charles River Sailing Canoe he bought from a friend in his beekeepers club. “It seemed pretty intuitive to put it together when he sold it to me, but it’s already been an adventure figuring how to rig her today, but I think we’ve got it now,” Hiss said. After a little trial and error putting the pieces in place, they set off from the Lake Auburn boat launch Wednesday afternoon in a very light breeze and blue skies, a perfect day for their first voyage.
