AUBURN — Thelma I. Nickerson, 93, a resident of Turner, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 7, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 15, 1923, in Turner, the daughter of Donna Walker. Thelma was a 1940 graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner. On Dec. 18, 1943, in Tampa, Fla., she married Roy Nickerson of Turner. Thelma devoted her time to her family and home. She also ran their business, Nickerson’s Store in Turner. She enjoyed bingo, flowers, cooking and playing Scrabble. Thelma especially loved spending time with her family and spending winters in Florida.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Roy Nickerson of Turner; daughters, JoAnn Nickerson of Turner and Bonnie Meggison and her husband, Paul, of Blue Eye, Mo.; her son, Randy Nickerson and his wife, Cindy, of Turner; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger Conant and his wife, Donna, of Plattsburg, N.Y., and Merton Conant and his wife, Sally, of Auburn; and her sisters, Verna Hathaway of Greene and Cleo Sopka of Owego, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Nickerson; her grandson, Chad Nickerson; her great-grandson, Erik Nickerson; her brother, Richard Conant; and her sister, Lelia Moody.
