PARIS — Oxford County 4-H member Cassandra McAlister of Buckfield was a top-10 finisher at the Maine 4-H Public Speaking Tournament held April 8 at the University of Maine in Orono.

McAlister, who qualified at the Oxford County 4-H Public Speaking Tournament held March 24, will now join the Maine State Communication Team on the New England Center Stage at Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts, in September.

For her public speaking presentation, McAlister demonstrated how to make spring garden planters. She is a member of the Young Lucky Buckaroos Kids 4-H Club and a junior at Buckfield Junior-Senior High School.
