NORWAY — Edgar Wilfred Lachance passed away peacefully after a brief illness, Sunday, June 11, surrounded by his family.

Edgar was born August 3, 1933, in Topsham, the son of Adelard and Alice (Fortin) Lachance. After graduating from Morse High School, he entered an apprenticeship at Hyde-Windlass Co. On May 1, 1954, Ed married the love of his life, Constance Cote. They were married 63 years.

Ed enjoyed fishing and hunting, but nothing more than attending the ballgames, plays and other activities that his grandsons were involved with, and spending time with family. He was extremely proud to have attended all four grandsons’ high school and college graduations.

Ed was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving in Japan. As a manufacturing engineer, he was employed at Maine Machine Products, Phillips-Elmet and other machine shops, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout leader and was a Registered Maine Guide.

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; son, David and his wife, Laurie; son, Dean and his wife, Susan; and grandsons, Michael, Jacob, Zachary and Andrew, of whom he was so very proud. He will be missed by family and many friends.

Ed was predeceased by his parents; and sisters, Constance Collins and Dorothy Sawlivich.
