SABATTUS — The Sabattus Sanitary District and Water Division has received for the second time the Maine Department of Labor’s Safety and Health Award for Public Employers.
The award is given to employers who are striving to provide a “safe and healthful” workplace.
The award is only given to exemplary public sector employers after a thorough review and inspection of the employer’s safety and health policies and procedures.
Receiving the award exempts the district from the state’s Bureau of Labor Standards routine or programmed inspections for four years, although the district utilizes the Safety Works Division each year for review and training.
