FARMINGTON —  Farmington police are investigating the theft of a vehicle from a Lake Street garage Monday night along with four musical instruments from a studio in the home.

A homeowner found someone had gotten in to his garage and taken a Subaru Baja sometime over Monday night into Tuesday morning. The owner left the keys in the vehicle as it was in his garage, Deputy Chief Shane Cote, said.

The vehicle was recovered Thursday when someone reported a suspicious vehicle left on the snowmobile trail down by the Sandy River, he said.  The exact location was unavailable but Cote said someone spotted it from near the movie theater.

The car was taken to a local garage to check for any damage, he said.

The four musical instruments, estimated value of $5,000 to $7,000 as initial costs were over a thousand each, have not been recovered, he said.
