I cannot support Ben Chin for mayor of Lewiston.
Repeated efforts to communicate with him and his campaign, both in the previous election and the current one, have resulted in a deafening silence. There is a pattern of his leadership that exhibits exclusion and no interest in discussing who Lewiston has been and how it gets to the future it needs to create.
The skills gap of the labor force, the desperate need for more workers, the health care and unique needs of the elder and aging residents, and how good-paying jobs can be brought here are just a few of the concerns I have for my beloved Lewiston. This city needs an inspiring leader who shows residents hope.
Chin exhibits a stunning lack of willingness to understand where we have been, who we are and how we become the amazing Lewiston that we can be.
