Kids to engineer at APL

AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library will host Mad Science of Maine at 6 p.m. Monday, June 26, in the Androscoggin Community Room as staff kicks off the 2017 summer reading program, “Engineering a Better World.”

Kids will step into the shoes of an engineer and learn how to design things to make the world a better place. They will explore the engineering fields of mechanical, aeronautical, aerospace, chemical, robotics, civil and renewable energy engineering.

The program is best for kids age 4 through 12. Children may also sign up for the summer reading program at the science show.

Mechanic Falls Society to meet

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, at the Anglican Church of the Transfiguration, 64 Elm St., formerly the First Congregational Church.

The Historical Society and members of the Anglican Church are preparing for a Strawberry Festival and Barbershop Quartet in July, and an ice cream social and band concert for August. Anyone who is interested in helping out and learning about the society and the Anglican Church is welcome to attend the meeting.

The historical society would also like to acquire the video recording talents of someone in the area.

The meeting extends an invite to any person who seeks to join the society in preserving the documents and artifacts of this community as well suggesting ideas of further community involvement.

Bridge club announces winners

LEWISTON —The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on June 12 were, first, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; second, Cindy Kirchherr and Jim Krainin; third, Paul Clement and Mike Quinn; and, fourth, Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell.

Winners on June 13 were, first, Jan and Vern Arey; second Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third, Nancy Farmer and Misha Tomic; fourth, Jeanine Kivus and Pat Quinn; and, first in B, Cynthia and Bill Clifford.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is guaranteed, and all bridge players are welcome.

Multiple Sclerosis support group 

AUBURN — There will be coffee and conversation from 10 to 11:30 a.m. the last Tuesday of every month, at the Auburn United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.

People with MS and their family and friends are invited to spend time socializing and meeting people in the area who are living with MS.

Coffee and snacks will be provided. No registration required.

There is also an evening group that meets the second Tuesday of every month in Lewiston.
