I am writing to express my concern about the proposed merger of Lewiston and Auburn. I feel that it is a bad idea to merge the two cities. Both sides have been working together just fine for decades.
I can’t believe how some people who want the merger have turned to name-calling and have been verbally attacking those who are opposed to the merger. They have stooped to calling the opposition group “closed-minded old farts.” They should remember that a lot of us “old farts” always go to the polls to vote.
Everyone has a right to their opinion and there is no reason to bad mouth people just because they don’t agree. Some people need to keep it clean and stop acting like spoiled children.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
