Michael Chaine, special enforcement officer with Auburn Police Department, assembles a sign warning motorists of a temporary speed bump he was setting up on the road that runs through Great Falls Plaza in Auburn on Monday afternoon. The idea of the speed bump is to deter motorists from using the access road as a shortcut between Court and Turner streets. The action was precipitated by calls from pedestrians and businesses in the area complaining of speeding motorists and pedestrians nearly being run over, according to Chaine.
