Legislators are making such a big deal out of nothing.

They simply cannot seem to get beyond what the people want. It always seems to be what they want — they know what is best for their constituents. To the point of a state shutdown? Really?

We can all agree that we don’t always get what we want. Oftentimes, Maine’s residents have to live with what legislators decide, but they can’t consider living with what Maine people have decided, even though that is what legislators have been elected to do.

Elected officials may also be missing the fact that we, the people, may just not only vacate some of them, but will simply boycott certain voting in the future.

Legislators talk about voter apathy and then they continually give us reasons to act that way.

Given that they don’t listen to we voters anyway, why bother?
