DEAR SUN SPOTS: The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston and YWCA Central Maine are hosting Maine’s Annual Color Me Rad 5K fundraiser on Saturday, July 15. Volunteers are needed to help throw paint, check in runners and sell merchandise.
For every volunteer who pre-registers, Color Me Rad will donate $60 to either the YMCA or YWCA. The two organizations are competing to see who can recruit the most volunteers. The winning Y will celebrate by throwing a pie in the losing Y executive’s face.
Volunteers must be 16 years or older. Each volunteer is expected to work a five-hour shift and will receive at T-shirt, drinks and snacks.
Sign up online at www.alymca.org or www.ywcamaine.org. Be sure to select your charity of choice.
The Color Me Rad 5K will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at Simard-Payne Memorial Park at 46 Beech St. in Lewiston.

ANSWER: These Color Me Rad events are all the rage and are terrific ways for local groups to raise money. They’re also really fun to be part of or just to watch — if you don’t want to get covered with color!
The volunteers who help with these events are important, so please think about volunteering. And, if you do, be prepared to get a little paint on you!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Spiritualist Church of Eternal Life in Sabattus will have a yard sale on Saturday, July 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are asking for donations of any kind. We are a small, nonprofit church and need to have fundraisers to be able to pay expenses.
