AUBURN — William B. Andrews Sr., 72, of Mechanic Falls passed away Saturday, July 8, at the Androscoggin Hospice House surrounded by his family.

He was born in Gray on June 28, 1945, a son of Walter N. and Alice Burnell Andrews. He graduated in 1963, the first class at Gray-New Gloucester High School. On June 12, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Berry.

He worked summers at Maine Asphalt, Granite Paving and Durham Paving and drove a truck in the winter. He became a full-time trucker and named his business William B. Andrews and Sons. He also operated a stump-removal business by the same name. Nearly 50 years ago, he built his own home. He received his private pilot’s license at Twitchell Airport. William enjoyed his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, tinkering on his equipment, coin-collecting, puzzles and his two dogs, Brandy and Molly.

Survivors include his wife of Mechanic Falls; two sons, William, Jr. and his wife, Trish, and their daughters, Bailee and Kendra of Minot, and Ron and his wife, Diane, and their daughter, Kassidy, of Oxford; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Blake of Auburn; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Stanley, Kevin, Steve and the Durgins. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Rena Shaw; brothers, Robert and Philip; and his in-laws, Hugh and Beverly Berry.
