Since deciding not to seek re-election to the Lewiston City Council, I am excited that Alicia Rea has announced her candidacy.
Rea is already an active member of the community. She will be a strong voice for Ward 3 and an energetic leader on the City Council. I believe it is important to have the perspective of young leaders such as her on the Council.
Rea loves Lewiston. She chose to make her home here, not only because it is already a great place to live, but also because she believes in the city’s potential for a better future.
As an invested board member of the Lewiston Education Fund, she will continue to be an advocate for Lewiston schools and children. She will also prioritize smart, creative investments in economic development and safe and affordable housing for all residents.
I hope others will join me in supporting Alicia Rea this fall.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
