NORWAY — A West Paris man who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Friday on Pikes Hill Road was listed in fair condition Tuesday, according to an employee at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Zachary Severance, 26, was driving on Pikes Hill Road when he lost control of his motorcycle on a curve, crossed into the opposite lane and struck a rock wall, Police Chief Rob Federico said.

Police said a helmet was found at the scene of the accident, but they did not know whether Severance had been wearing it.

Federico said Severance was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital, but because of the severity of his injuries, which included a broken back, he was taken to Maine Medical Center.

While he was originally listed as being in “serious condition,” an employee with the Maine Medical Center said that he had been upgraded to fair.

The cause of the accident had not been determined, Federico said. He said Severance will be issued a summons for driving without a license.
