CHESTERVILLE — A local man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman following an investigation, Franklin County Lt. David St. Laurent said in a release.
Roy Simoneau, 32, was arrested Friday on a felony charge of gross sexual assault, according to the release.
A conviction on the charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Sgt. Nathan Bean and Lt. David Rackliffe received a complaint “about an alleged sexual assault” on Wednesday, St. Laurent said.
Bean conducted an initial interview and the case was later turned over to St. Laurent. Simoneau was later arrested.
He was brought to the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington on Friday afternoon. His bail was set at $1,000 cash.
