POLAND — Everett Edward Rasys, 75, of Poland and formerly of Berlin, N.H., passed into his next life early in the morning of July 10.

Everett was born in Springfield, Mass., on June 15, 1942, to the late George J. and Eunice (Hardie) Rasys. As a teenager, he worked with his brothers at the family business, the Berlin All Star Dairy, where a lifelong love of ice cream began.

After graduating from Berlin High School in 1960, he served with the U.S. Army at various posts in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge in 1963, he returned to Berlin and worked for the Groveton Paper Co. for many years. During the late ’70s and early ’80s, he was also a familiar face to anyone getting work done at Bob’s Tire Service. He moved to Maine in 1987 and was a longtime employee of New England Furniture.

In his youth, Everett was an avid outdoorsman, being especially fond of snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. He also loved fast cars. In his later years, he turned his attention to computers and big TVs. Everett was well-liked by all who knew him and had a hard time passing up a good prank.

He is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Debbie Edwards; children, Scott and Kurt of New Hampshire and Preston and Christine of Maine; as well as grandchildren, Wesley, Dakotah, Shawna, Mckyle, Brent, Kyanna, Katie and Gavin. He also leaves behind two sisters and a brother, Isabel Sousa, Constance Rasys and George Rasys Jr.; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Philip Rasys.
