AUBURN — Robert Charles Beliveau, 83, died peacefully Friday, July 21, at his home with his family in Auburn after an extended illness.

Robert was born on February 23, 1934, in Lewiston to Joseph and Eleanor (Bilodeau) Beliveau. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School and a member of the National Guard for many years, and retired from the Auburn Fire Department after 25 years of service to the local community.

Robert was a curator for the Maine Historical society and took an avid interest in Maine history. Some of his other interests included antique coin and knife collecting. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to the casinos at Foxwoods and Atlantic City with family and friends. He married his sweetheart, Jeannine Drouin, on August 21, 1954. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary August 2004. Mrs. Beliveau passed away May 11, 2005. They raised three beautiful daughters and one son. They went on to foster seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He is survived by siblings, George Beliveau, Jeanne Beliveau and Constance Beliveau; children, Joan Sanders and Jeanne Lamontagne; grandchildren, Josie Blanco, Melanie Tardiff, Cynthia Ours, Kimberly Smart, Dustin Lamontagne and Cecilea Lamontagne; and great-grandchildren, Deja Tardiff, Jasmine Blanco, Marisol Blanco, Matthew Ours, Alicia Smart and Anakin Storkson.

Robert was predeceased by his loving wife, Jeannine Beliveau; sister, Patricia Pepin; brother, Charles Beliveau; daughter, Susan Yarbrough; son, Joseph Beliveau; grandchildren, Cherie Lamontagne and Cory Tardiff; and great-granddaughter, Sierra Ours.
