LEWISTON — The City of Lewiston, in partnership with the Lewiston Police Athletic League, will once again participate in National Night Out.
Activities are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, in Simard-Payne Park, 46 Beech St.
It will include a bonus Summer Movie Night, “The Secret Life of Pets,” to begin shortly after 8 p.m. Children’s fingerprinting will be available, as well as athletic demonstrations and non-profit informational resources.
Residents are encouraged to spend the evening with neighbors, police officers, firefighters, and community partners — a way to educate families, friends, and neighbors about crime prevention and the benefit of getting to know those who reside nearby.
Food and activities will be provided at no cost to participants.
Celebrated worldwide, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie towards ensuring safe, caring places to live. National Night Out also fosters relationships between neighbors and law enforcement while enhancing a true sense of community.
