CHESTERVILLE — Selectmen voted Thursday to approve state recommended speed limits for Chesterville Hill, Stinchfield Hill and Adams roads.

Board Vice Chairman Tiffany Estabrook read the Maine Department of Transportation’s speed zone review, which was requested by selectmen after they received complaints about speeding on the three roads. According to state highway department records, an official speed for the roads was never established. 

The speed limits are:

• Chesterville Hill Road, 35 mph from Route 156 southwest to Stinchfield Hill Road, a distance of 0.81 miles; 25 mph from Stinchfield Hill Road to the end of the paved section, a distance of 2.67 miles;

• Stinchfield Hill Road, be 25 mph from Chesterville Hill Road to Route 41, a distance of 1.41 miles; and

• Adams Road, 25 mph from Ridge Road to the end of town’s section, a distance of 2.06 miles.

Road foreman Mike Cote will post the speed signs.

Selectman Edward Hastings IV said he would like to see all roads in Chesterville reviewed.

The board also agreed to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Town Office to sign warrants for a supplemental accounts payable and a payroll. 

Kim Lessard, Chesterville Family Fun Day Planning Committee member, requested a supplemental warrant to pay businesses supplying items for the Fun Day on Aug. 12.
