LISBON — Fire destroyed a vacant home on Lisbon Street Tuesday night.

Lisbon Fire Chief Sean Galipeau said the single family home at 31 Lisbon Street was for sale and no one was there when the fire broke out. Someone in the neighborhood called to report the flames.

Lisbon firefighters arrived at the home around 10 p.m. Tuesday and found it ablaze. Galipeau said the home had a metal roof and the fire likely “cooked for a while before it actually blew out an eave and somebody noticed it.”

Lewiston, Sabattus and Topsham fire departments also responded.

The fire was extinguished a few hours later. No one was hurt.

Galipeau said the fire is still under investigation, but fire officials believe it was caused by an electrical problem.

He said the home will be a total loss.
