DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Congregational Church of East Sumner has several bean hole bean suppers each year to raise funds for our outreach missions and community gatherings. The suppers have become so popular that we are in need of another 12-quart cast-iron, handled bean pot with a cover.
Our next bean suppers are Aug. 26 and Sept. 9 (during our Woodcarvers’ Camp and Carve Weekend). All suppers are at 5:30 p.m. with a cost of $8 per person and $22 per family. The final bean hole event is our Annual Barn Sale on Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The beans are served for lunch during the sale. Pints are available for sale at suppers and the fall and spring sales, and that’s why we need another pot.
If anyone has a pot they no longer need, please consider donating it to us. You can contact Bill or Linda at 388-2263 or Cyndy at 388-2667, or come to our campfire and sing-along at dusk the evening before our suppers. The church is at 50 Main St. (Route 219) in Sumner, just west of the junction with Route 140. See us on Facebook “East Sumner Congregational Church” or http://congregationalchurchofeastsumner.weebly.com. Thank you! — Cyndy, Sumner
