PERU — Gregory Wayne Gatchell, 51, died Friday, Aug. 11, at his residence on Main Street in Peru.
He was born in Norway on March 25, 1966, the son of Leslie W. Gatchell and Geraldine A. Hoyle, and graduated from Rumford High School, Class of 1984, and from CMVTI, Class of 1986.
He worked as a construction worker for many years at Bath Iron Works and several construction companies, which included a job in Guatemala. He was a member of the FOE and Sons of the American Legion and was a former member of the BPOE.
He was survived by his father, Leslie Gatchell and wife, Betty, of Jay; his mother, Geraldine Gatchell of Oxford; sister, Jennifer Gatchell of Rumford; brother, David Gatchell and wife, Bonnie, of Peru; four nephews, Adam Gatchell and companion, Kayleigh Daley, of Peru, Kaleb Gatchell of Rumford, Travis and Tyler Child of Peru; a niece, Allison Watson and partner, Brittany Berkey, of Chesterville; and four grandnieces, Carleigh, Sayge, Maryjane and Amora.
He was predeceased by a sister, Jolene and her companion, Reggie Watson
