JAY — Curbside trash and recyclable pickup will resume Sept. 6 and Sept. 7, after a 159-117 vote Monday to raise $120,000 to restore the service.
The money for the contracted service was not included in the Transfer Station budget approved by voters in April in an effort by town officials to cut expenses. The service stopped on June 30.
Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere said she has spoken to a representative of Archie’s Inc. of Mexico and the cost for the remainder of the year through June 30 will be $100,000 or $10,000 a month.
The pickup routes will be the same as before the service ended, she said.
On Wednesdays, pickup includes mainly streets south of Route 140 and in East Jay. Route 133/Franklin Road residents are also on the Wednesday schedule.
On Thursdays, the company will mainly pick up Route 140/Intervale Road and streets to the north.
