Maine State Police Sgt. Jeremy Forbes and K-9 Champ head to an apartment building on Drummond Street in Auburn on Tuesday morning for monthly training for four other agencies. According to state police Sgt. Scott Dalton, dogs and their handlers must train or be part of an active operation at least once a month to remain certified. It is also important to learn new techniques. Using an occupied building instead of a school or public building offers more challenges because it is not such a “sterile environment,” Dalton said.
