High school sports coverage is proudly supported by Maine State Credit Union.
Coach: Andy Higgins (seventh year)
Conference: WMC Class: B South
Last year’s record: 8-7-1, lost in regional quarterfinals
Returning players: Seniors — Cam Usher (M), Sam Farrington (D), Matt Gurney (M), Ollie Grant (F); Junior — Nick McCann (F).
Key losses: Strong senior class including All-State players Bryce Hayman and John Henry Villanueva.
Promising newcomers: Junior — Brannon Gilbert (G); Sophomore — Drew Lacerda (F); Freshmen — Alec Brooks (D), Keegan Brooks (F).
What to expect: The Patriots must replace a senior class that played eventual state champion Yarmouth tough in the playoffs. Hayman and Villanueva especially left big holes to fill. Higgins will look to the senior trio of Farrington, Usher and Gurney to lead this year’s team, which hopes to stay competitive in what Higgins called the “tire-iron tough” Western Maine Conference.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
