GARDINER — The Open Book Players will present “Reading Rumpus” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at Johnson Hall, 280 Water St.
The event features the works of several Maine children’s book authors and illustrators, their stories adapted and presented as theatrical works. They include:
• “Bella’s Fall Coat” and two chapters of “Maxi’s Secrets” by Lynn Plourde;
• “Crossing Niagara” by Matt Tavares as well as his illustrated “Lighter Than Air” by Matthew Clark Smith;
• “Mystery of the Missing Fox” (two chapters) by Tamra Wight;
• “Be Quiet!” and “Hotel Bruce” by Ryan T. Higgins;
• “Thumbs Up For All” by Emily Coye; and
• “Hattie & Hudson” by Chris Van Dusen along with his illustrated “Even Monsters Need to Sleep” by Lisa Wheeler.
The authors and illustrators will attend the performance and autograph their books, which can be purchased before and after the show.
