AUGUSTA — Gerald A. Bachand, 67, of Lewiston, died on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Togus Veterans Administration Hospital at Augusta, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 16, 1950, the son of Laurent and Georgette (Plante) Bachand. He was educated in Tampa, Fla. and Lewiston schools. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and was a fire control technician Third Class.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church. He attended the University of Maine at Farmington, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation and counseling. He did volunteer work for the Red Cross teaching CPR, First Call, and Community Concepts.
Gerald is survived by his mother; his brothers, Robert of Alaska and Michael of Standish; two nephews; and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father; and his sister-in-law, Amanda.
