AUBURN — Lionel “Nel” Dionne, 53, of Lewiston, passed peacefully at the Hospice House in Auburn on the afternoon of Aug. 14, following a long battle with cancer.
Lionel was born to Philibert and Antoinette (Phillipon) Dionne on Feb. 21, 1964. He attended Lewiston schools and joined the Navy shortly after graduation. He worked as a foreman for IRC Roofing for many years.
He loved NASCAR Racing, enjoyed ice fishing and motorcycle riding with his many friends. He also loved to travel as he visited Hawaii as well as Australia. He frequented The Cage in Lewiston and considered the establishment and patrons part of his family.
Lionel is predeceased by his father, Philibert and by his grandparents, both maternal and fraternal.
Lionel is survived by his mother, Antoinette; three sisters, Lucille Dick, Claire Dobbs, and Theresa Andoniades and companion, Chuck; a brother, Normand Dionne; several beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as cousins, aunts and uncles. He also leaves behind his oldest and closest friends, Paul and Theresa Brousseau, and Dennis and Rhonda Webber, who along with several other close friends who were there for him through his illness.
