BRUNSWICK — Shirley (Enman) Staples, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 2, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

She was born in Upton on Sept. 22, 1935, the daughter of the late Franklin and Katherine (Barnett) Enman. Shirley graduated from Rumford High School and lived in Maine most of her life. She married the love of her life, Floyd E. Staples, in 1955, and they shared a loving marriage of over 50 years, until his passing in 2006.

Shirley was a devout Methodist, regularly attending Mass at the Lisbon United Methodist Church. She worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance for many years until her retirement. She was a member of various church groups, the Sabattus American Legion and the Fleet Reserve of Brunswick. Shirley enjoyed working around the house, gardening, fishing and spending time at camp in Upton.

Shirley is survived by her five children, Rebecca Stevenson and husband, John of Florida, Mark Staples of Durham, Sonya Andrews and husband, Robert of Durham, Heidi Pelletier and husband, John of Greene, and Mica Staples and wife, Lori of North Carolina; her siblings, Ruby Edwards of Florida, Richard Enman of Virginia, Larry Enman of New Hampshire, George “Bub” Wight of Florida, Lila “Sister” Plante of Florida, and Jerry Wight of New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Joshua Carter, Jeannette Blaustein, Ashley Mannisto, Matthew Staples, Lindsey Pelletier, and Stephen DeRobertis; her great-grandchildren, Ezra and Penelope Blaustein and Ellasyn and Joseph Mannisto.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Lloyd Enman, Malcolm Enman, Cynthia Eames and Norman Enman.
