Meeting Thursday to set Rumford tax rate
RUMFORD — The Board of Selectmen and the Board of Assessors will hold a joint meeting Thursday to set the tax rate for 2017-18.
It begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Rumford Falls Auditorium.
The property tax rate is $28 per $1,000 of assessed value.
The officials will discuss using the Undesignated Fund Balance in regards to setting the rate and they will set the dates for semiannual collection of taxes.
Tax Collector Tom Bourret had recommended tax due dates of Oct. 17 and April 2, with interest on taxes to begin the day after those dates.
However, board members did not wish to action on that recommendation then.
