Children’s Cancer Walk in Rumford
RUMFORD — The Maine Children’s Cancer Walk will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, in the Hosmer Field Complex.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the walk and run will begin at 9 a.m.
Money raised from the walk goes to help finance state-of-the-art equipment, psychological services and research to help find a cure for childhood cancer.
All contributions will stay in Maine.

Society hearing about Parks Family
MEXICO — The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, in the Wills Homestead Museum.
Members will have a potluck supper followed by a short meeting.
The guest speaker will be Methyl Easter Parks. Her husband, the late Henry W. Parks III, was born in Mexico, the grandson of Henry W. Parks, who moved to Mann Hill in Mexico from Dixfield in April of 1859.
Methyl Easter Parks is an excellent storyteller and will share some family history with us.
Rumford Historical Society to meet
RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Rumford Center Grange Hall.
The meeting will begin with a potluck supper. Members and and attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. Drinks and utensils will also be provided.
Following the supper, a discussion will be held concerning the Society’s on-going and upcoming events. Any person interested in the history of Rumford may attend.
The 2017-2018 dues in the amount of $10 per person are due as of Sept. 1, and payment can be made at the supper.
Donations needed for clothing giveaway
NORWAY — Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, Norway Grange and Friends are seeking donations of lightly used clothing and light houseware items for the clothing giveaway to be held Sept. 30 at the Norway Grange on Whitman Street.
Donations may be dropped off at the Norway Grange from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Saturdays or between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, Sept. 25 to 29.
Donations of new underwear and socks are greatly appreciated.

Veterans home seeks crafters
PARIS — Maine Veterans Home will host its annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at 477 High St.
Tables are available for crafters for $15 each.
